Special Meeting of the Board of Supervisors

SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF ESSEX COUNTY, VIRGINIA

In accordance with Virginia Code §§ 2.2-3707(E), 15.2-1417, 15.2-1418, notice is hereby given that the Chairman of the Essex County Board of Supervisors has called a special meeting to be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Essex County Administration Building, 2^nd Floor EOC Training Room, 202 S. Church Lane, Tappahannock, VA 22560.  The purposes of this Special called meeting are to ratify a Petition for Writ of Special Election submitted to the Essex County Circuit Court, and to hold a closed meeting for the purpose of (i) the discussion, consideration, or interviews of prospective candidates for employment; assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining, or resignation of specific public officers, appointees, or employees of the County related to the Building Official and members of the Board, in accordance with Virginia Code § 2.2-3711(A)(1); and (ii) Consultation with legal counsel retained by the Board regarding specific legal matters requiring the provision of legal advice by such counsel, related to county officers and personnel, in accordance with Virginia Code § 2.2-3711(A)(8); and (iii) for consultation with legal counsel and briefings by staff members pertaining to actual litigation, where such consultation or briefing in open meeting would adversely affect the litigating posture of the public body related to Case No. CL22-159, in accordance with Virginia Code § 2.2-3711(A)(7).
