The Essex County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office has an opening for the full-time position of Deputy Clerk I.
The Deputy Clerk will be responsible for:
- Recording documents relating to the ownership of real estate in Essex County.
- Documents must be prepared with accuracy and in accordance with state and local policies.
- Other duties will include:
- issuing marriage licenses,
- administering oaths,
- collecting court fines and costs,
- and assisting the public.
The Deputy Clerk will assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Clerk.
Must be detail oriented, a quick learner, be able to multitask in a fast-paced office with a high degree of professionalism.
Various computer programs will be used to complete these tasks on a daily basis.
The Deputy Clerk must be able to work under pressure, with frequent interruptions, and often without direct supervision. A strong desire to work with and serve the public is essential.

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of automated office practices, procedures, and office equipment, exceptional typing skills, extensive PC experience including Word and Excel. Court, legal, customer service or business office experience preferred.
Salary:
Approximately $39,000 with state retirement and other benefits. Salary is non-negotiable.
