Position Title: Payroll/Human Resources Generalist

Essex County seeks a full-time Payroll/HR Generalist to prepare and process payroll for the Essex County Public School system and the Essex County Social Services Department. Administration of the payroll program includes reconciliation of benefits and payroll deductions, benefit billings, timely deposit of state and federal withholdings and processing payments for deferred compensation, insurance, retirement benefits, etc. Conducts fiscal and calendar year-end reconciliations, generates W-2’s and corresponding state and federal tax withholding statements. Additionally, the position will assist with developing human resource documents and processes.
Requires a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in business and/or human resources or related field. Seeking 5+ years of progressive payroll experience. Government experience preferred. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in MS Office required.
