Broadband Project Update 11/21/2025
Take a look at the map above to see how the project is progressing in your area!
Some key pieces of information of which you should be aware:
- To make sure your address is part of the project, please reach out to Breezeline via the address portal (https://events.breezeline.us/essexcounty-youhaveachoice/original_page)! If internet difficulties impede your ability to fill out the web form, please call the County GIS office at 804-443-3490 and we’ll type in the info you relay to us over the phone!
- If you live down a long driveway/private road, make sure the owner of the road gives Breezeline permission to come down the road!
- If you have non-Miss Utility buried features (sprinklers, electric fences, etc), let Breezeline know so they don’t inadvertently find them!
GEV 13 and GEV 21 have finished coming fully online, and the power supplies are resolved for GER05 and GER06, so they are available for service as well!
We also have a tentative schedule for the rest of the project! The goal is to finish areas with lots of farmland by the end of March to be done before planting is really underway and access to farm fields becomes limited. The whole project is projected to finish by May 2026.
GEV10, is expected to go live by the end of December 2025, with the Dominion Energy side of GEV11 and GEV12 expected to do the same.
GER01 and GER03 are expected to go live by the end of January 2026
GEV17, GEV19, and GER02 are expected to go live by the end of February 2026.
GEV18 and GEV16 are expected to go live by the end of March 2026.
GEV15 and GEV14 are expected to go live by the end of April 2026.
The power supply step has been taking longer than we would like, so Breezeline has set up a tracking sheet to make sure the timelines between installation and activation of the power supplies do not exceed REC’s projected wait times. Breezeline’s goal is to get all power supplies placed by the end of December 2025.
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) and Breezeline are working between now and March to do all the pole replacements and attachments in farm fields so they do not interfere with crop production.
Some houses are not in a project area, but also do not currently have service. Out of the 497 that we identified as not being in a project area, 131 are not in the current VATI project. As Breezeline works through the addresses, we are finding that many of the addresses are already eligible for service.
